Packing list and required paperwork

Scouting America’s motto of “Be Prepared” applies to the gear you will bring for the weekend. While the list below is not comprehensive, it is meant to serve as a guide for items to bring:

GEAR

  • Clothing (including extra clothing and extra socks) that is commensurate with the weather for the weekend. Monitor the forecast leading up to the event to know about precipitation and temperatures. You may need to bring rain gear (e.g., rain jacket), cold weather gear (e.g., warm jacket, gloves, warm hat, base layer), etc. based on the forecast. Plan and pack accordingly.
  • Class A uniform – to be worn during the evening of arrival, during flag ceremonies and during breakfasts and dinner. Note: if you do not have a Class A uniform, you do not need to purchase one for the event.
  • Personal hygiene products (A Scout is Clean) such as toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, sanitizer, brush/comb, towel, washcloth, shower shoes.
  • You will be staying in heated cabins with running water, including shower facilities (i.e., no tenting). We want you to fully submerge yourself in the weekend experience and not be concerned about putting up/taking down tents.
  • Hiking boots are very strongly recommended. If the weekend will be wet, you may want to bring a backup pair.
  • Flashlight and/or head lantern
  • Daypack
  • Water bottle
  • Medicine (as needed). Note that the parent/guardian for each Arrow of Light is responsible for the handling, securing and administration of any medicine brought from home.
  • Sleeping: sleeping bag, sheets, blanket and pillow. The buildings that you will be staying in are heated and have bunk beds with twin-size mattresses.
  • Mess kits – not required / not necessary

PAPERWORK

The following documents are required for participation for each Arrow of Light and each Parent/Guardian in attendance. They may be provided via email in advance to coordinator@trailtoscouts.org OR handed in at the time of check-in. Paperwork will be returned to you at the end of the weekend. Failure to provide the required paperwork in advance or at check-in will result in the Arrow of Light and his/her Parent/Guardian being denied entry to the event and a refund will not be provided.

Required paperwork for all participants (Arrow of Lights and Parents/Guardians):

  • Completed medical Forms Parts A, B1 and B2. Forms can be obtained here: 680-001_AB.pdf
  • Copy of current medical insurance cards
